About Us

MaeBoerboel consists of my husband "Jordan" and myself "Danielle".  We do not have any kids as of now, so we want to put our focus on the dogs.  I grew up with dogs such as Newfoundlands and German Shepard.  I have always been a big dog lover, so my mother made sure that I married someone who knew eventually what they were getting into.  As of now our house hold consists of 4 Boerboels, 2 Cats, and a three legged Chihuahua. We thought it was time to find a nice quite place in the country for our dogs to be able to roam free (instead of only having less than half an acre of a backyard.) We ended up purchasing 4 acres of wooded land with a pond, and are planning on moving out there the beginning of this Spring '08.

We came across the South African Boerboel in 2005.  Then with all the research we did, we picked our Boerboel breeder.  Splitrock Skannon, was our first boy!  It was amazing how everything that we were looking for in the Boerboel, they were able to find the right dog for us. He has left plenty of memories in our hearts and its sad to say but Skannon is no longer with us.  It breaks my heart every time I think about him.

So after a lot of discussions with my husband, we came to the conclusion that we want to help breed a better Boerboel.  We have our goals and expectations of what we want to produce.  However no one can predict what they are going to produce, but by narrowing down the choices for the perfect match through the pros and cons between the two dogs, we can have a better idea of what the out come is going to be.  We also feel that it is important to keep a pup back from your breedings to see whether or not the breeding was a success.  Which would include hip testing, the SABT appraisal system and to see if they are temperamentally sound.  We do not take it for granted that these dogs are going to be placed into loving homes, so we want to ONLY better this breed to make your new companion a happy and healthy dog!
